Message from the Chairs

Dear Community,

As co-chairs of The School in Rose Valley Parent Community Organization (PCO) for the 2009-10 academic year, we are delighted to extend an early welcome to both new and returning families. For those who are new to the School, our PCO is an inclusive and diverse organization representing all community members – parents, guardians, staff, and anyone else with an active interest in day-to-day life at SRV.

Very simply, our purpose is to serve as a community-building organization supporting an active and rewarding school-home partnership. In the year ahead, we hope to accomplish this in many ways:

• By guiding and supporting the Class Parent Program, which is tailored to the needs of individual teachers.
• By coordinating the Parent-run Events that are cherished SRV traditions, from Putter Days to Winterfest to Mayfair.
• By offering a rich menu of speaker forums, discussion groups and community-wide meetings.

Our volunteer leadership works in close partnership with the SRV administrative team, meeting regularly to exchange views and offer feedback on topics of interest to the community. While we do not represent any single constituency, our goal is always to encourage and support constructive dialogue.

Above all, the PCO is about you. We want your involvement, your ideas, and your opinions. Whatever your interests – or schedule – there is a role for you, and probably many! Please watch this space for a complete list of volunteer opportunities.

In closing, we would like to introduce the other volunteer PCO chairs for the current year: Therese Murphy, Events Chair; Amy Meserve, Class Parent Co-Chair; Mary Ellen Kelly; Community Programs Co-Chair, and Pam Lieberman, Acting Treasurer. Each of these parents has already played an active volunteer role in the community, serving as class parents, event chairs and in numerous other capacities.

We look forward to introducing ourselves and welcoming you all in person at the Back-to-School Picnic and Orientation.
