Putter Day

Parent at Putter Day

Help us to make SRV an even more beautiful place to be. Join us for a fun filled work party for the entire family. Dan gives out the jobs and families provide the work crews. Older children can help out too. Lunch and child care are provided. Brought to you by Primary Circle.

Note from a parent on a past putter day - Thanks to everyone who came out on an overcast day to work at school. Many new parents joined other parents, board members and staff members raking leaves, painting bookcases and cubbies, moving woodchips and gravel, pruning, weeding and tidying up, organizing and more! Many people brought food and there was plenty to nourish us. Maureen and Brad took good care of the wee ones. Many of the older children helped with projects including: Kate M., Adam and Daniel B., and Jesse R.

What are Putter (or Winter Readiness) Days?

Much of the regular care of the school buildings is done by parents (they can earn back a maintenance deposit by working). Jobs such as building classroom furnishings, painting, yard work, gardening, etc. may be done by them at any time.

On several Saturdays each fall and spring, Putter Days are held when large numbers of parents come to work together. These are really fun events. Parents are given a choice of projects to work on and get to work with crews. Talking with old and new friends is definitely permitted. Older children help out and/or play outdoors. Younger children may attend the free child-care. A parent group provides a free lunch. Everybody has a good time, and lots of hard work that the school would otherwise have to pay for out of tuition gets accomplished.
